Punjab Police Arrests Key Suspect in Kabaddi Promoter Rana Balachauria Murder Case

Chandigarh, May 4: In a significant move against organized crime in Punjab, police have achieved a major breakthrough. The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in collaboration with central agencies and the Tripura police, has arrested the notorious suspect Aditya, also known as Makhan. This arrest took place in Agartala, the capital of Tripura.

On December 15, 2025, kabaddi promoter Rana Balachauria was shot dead in Sohana village, located in Sector 79 of Mohali district. This shocking incident sent waves of fear throughout the area and was linked to organized gang warfare.

Investigations revealed that the murder was orchestrated with connections to both interstate and international networks. The entire plot was directed by handlers based abroad. Under their orders, the suspect and his associates executed the crime. Some accomplices had already been apprehended in Kolkata, but Aditya had been on the run for an extended period.

According to Punjab police, the suspect consistently changed his location to evade capture, hiding in various states. Ultimately, he was apprehended in Agartala based on technical surveillance and intelligence information.

The AGTF conducted this operation with utmost confidentiality, coordinating with central agencies to reach the suspect. Following the arrest, procedures to bring him back to Punjab for further questioning have commenced.

Authorities state that Punjab police are committed to ensuring a secure state. Organized crime will not be tolerated under any circumstances. No matter where the suspect hides, whether in any corner of the country or abroad, he will be brought to justice.
