Hyderabad, May 5: The Punjab Kings (PBKS) have faced two consecutive defeats after an impressive run of seven unbeaten matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Assistant coach Brad Haddin remains optimistic about the team’s return to winning form.
The Kings are focused on regaining their winning streak as they prepare to face the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday. Despite the recent close losses, the team is still at the top of the points table with 13 points. As the season approaches its final weeks, the Kings are concentrating on playing their best cricket.
Before the match, Haddin expressed confidence in the team’s middle order, highlighting the responsibility they have taken on. He pointed to the recent performance of Suryansh Shedge as a positive sign for the team’s depth. Shedge scored 57 runs off 29 balls against the Gujarat Titans.
Haddin stated, “We felt that the partnership between Marcus Stoinis and Suryansh was really good under pressure. Suryansh not only scored runs but did so brilliantly under pressure. He navigated through a tough phase when he was 10 runs off 10 balls and then accelerated. We know how explosive our top order is, but now our middle order is also spending time together and finding form.”
He also reiterated the team’s full confidence in strike bowler Arshdeep Singh, calling him a world-class professional. “Arshdeep is world-class. You know that in this tournament, there will be some bad days because batting has been explosive from the start. Statistics show that there have been some fantastic chases. Arshdeep understands the flow of the game in the tournament. We are happy with where he is right now. You want your best players to perform in crucial matches as the tournament progresses. He is a vital part of our team.”
This season, Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya have been opening for the team. Haddin attributes the team’s success so far to this strategy and believes they are close to delivering a dominant performance.
Haddin remarked, “Our openers are one of the reasons we are at the top of this tournament. They are exciting and talented, but one thing they have given us is the ability to play fearlessly at the top of the batting order. The real goal in the tournament is to play your best cricket at the end. We are always striving for that perfect result, that perfect match. We believe that once we achieve that, it will be very hard to beat us.”
