Punjab Kings Achieve Historic IPL Run Chase Against Delhi Capitals

New Delhi, April 25: The Punjab Kings made history at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium. In the 35th match of IPL 2026, they successfully chased down a target of 265 runs against the Delhi Capitals (DC). This remarkable feat marks the highest run chase in IPL history.

The Punjab Kings achieved the daunting target in just 18.5 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process. Previously, they held the record for the largest run chase in IPL, successfully chasing 262 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024.

Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh provided a stellar start for PBKS. They formed a partnership of 126 runs for the first wicket in just 6.5 overs. During the powerplay, they amassed 116 runs together. Priyansh scored 43 runs off 17 balls, hitting 2 fours and 5 sixes. Meanwhile, Prabhsimran delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 76 runs off only 26 balls, reaching his half-century in just 18 balls, including 9 fours and 5 sixes.

Cooper Connolly contributed 17 runs off 10 balls. Captain Shreyas Iyer showcased his excellent form, remaining unbeaten with 71 runs off 36 balls at a strike rate of 197. He hit 3 fours and 7 sixes, leading his team to victory. Nehal Wadhera added 25 runs off 15 balls, while Shashank Singh remained not out with 19 runs off 10 balls.

Earlier, the Delhi Capitals set a formidable target, scoring 264 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in their 20 overs, marking their highest score in IPL history. KL Rahul played a phenomenal innings, scoring 152 runs off 67 balls, making him the Indian batsman with the highest score in IPL history. He struck 16 fours and 9 sixes. Nitish Rana also contributed significantly with a powerful 91 runs off 44 balls.
