Punjab BJP President Criticizes State Government, Calls for Chief Ministers Resignation

Punjab BJP President Keval Singh Dhillon criticizes the state government for deteriorating law and order, calling for the Chief Minister to resign.

New Delhi, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : Keval Singh Dhillon, the President of the Punjab BJP, launched a scathing attack on the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during a press conference at the BJP headquarters. He expressed his dismay that Punjab, once known for its spiritual leaders and athletes, is now recognized for its drug problems.

Dhillon stated that law and order have collapsed in Punjab, describing it as a state of “jungle raj.” He highlighted the recent murder of Parminder Singh Jhota in Mansa, pointing out that violent incidents have become a daily occurrence. He emphasized that the drug crisis is the most pressing issue facing the state, noting that the BJP had initiated a campaign against it, which began with national president Nitin Naveen.

The campaign culminated in Jalandhar, where Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a gathering, promising that the BJP would eradicate drugs from Punjab and set a timeline for this commitment. Dhillon reiterated that drug abuse, gangsterism, and extortion are critical issues plaguing the region, with drug abuse being the most significant concern. He lamented that Jhota, who had raised his voice against drugs, was shot dead, and questioned who is responsible for this violence. Jhota’s father has blamed the local MLA for his son’s murder.

Dhillon mentioned that he has written to the Governor, expressing a lack of trust in the state government and police, and has called for a CBI investigation into the matter. He reported that protests are taking place across various districts in Punjab. He also cited a recent incident where a police officer was apprehended by the BSF with 20 kilograms of heroin while on duty in a VIP convoy.

He accused government employees of being involved in drug trafficking and questioned the accountability of the Chief Minister, who also serves as the Home Minister. With so many murders occurring, Dhillon argued that the Chief Minister has no right to remain in office and should resign immediately.

He criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for failing to ensure public safety, citing incidents of violence against influencers, athletes, and even police stations. The situation has deteriorated to the point where residents are fearful for their children’s safety and are putting up signs to sell their homes.

Dhillon urged the Chief Minister to resign, stating that if he is waiting for the implementation of the model code of conduct, he should be aware that people will not allow AAP to enter their villages. He shared his experiences speaking with individuals affected by drug abuse, noting that their stories brought tears to people’s eyes.

He accused the government of increasing the state’s debt and claimed that corruption has reached the Chief Minister’s inner circle. Gangsters operate openly, factories are relocating, and power outages last for hours. He criticized the AAP for blaming the central government for all issues, while employees are on strike due to a lack of dearness allowance.

Dhillon concluded that Punjab is in dire straits, with people suffering from drug addiction. He reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to eliminating drugs from the state, citing successful efforts in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir as evidence of their capability.
