New Delhi, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : Congress has launched a vigorous campaign against the central government and the Election Commission, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party’s MP, Akhilesh Singh, announced plans for district-level protests across the nation, asserting that both democracy and the Constitution are under threat in the current political climate.
During a demonstration in Hyderabad, MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan accused the Chief Election Commissioner of acting on behalf of the BJP, claiming he has facilitated the removal of 130 million votes and undermined democracy. These allegations were presented as a validation of Rahul Gandhi‘s previous statements.
Akhilesh Singh emphasized, “Every district committee will engage in protests demanding the CEC’s resignation. Democracy and the Constitution are in jeopardy. If elections are not conducted properly, what is the point of democracy?”
Commenting on a recent incident involving Delhi Minister Pravesh Verma, Singh criticized the act of silencing dissent in a democratic setup. He questioned the rationale behind the struggle for independence if such actions are tolerated, drawing parallels with historical movements led by Mahatma Gandhi.
In response to a viral video of Union Minister Chirag Paswan questioning law and order in Bihar, Singh remarked that individuals must take responsibility for their actions and should not live in shame.
At the protest in Hyderabad, MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy reiterated that the demonstration was specifically aimed at demanding Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. He highlighted efforts by two other members to communicate with Kumar over 14 times in the past ten months, suggesting that Kumar has become a puppet of the BJP. He called for the release of the voter list until 2025, citing the removal of 130 million votes under the SIR.
Shakeel Ahmed Khan further accused Gyanesh Kumar of facilitating “vote theft” and infringing on voters’ rights, claiming that he has orchestrated elections to benefit the BJP. He asserted that the manner in which the Election Commission has operated is now evident to the world, echoing Rahul Gandhi’s concerns about the manipulation of votes.
