Priyanka to lead ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ march

Lucknow, March 7 : On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee will take out a ‘Lakdi Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ march on Tuesday with a message of women empowerment, which will be led by party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi. Addressing a press conference at the state headquarters, national president of All India Mahila Congress Netta D’Souza said, “Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon campaign was launched from the historic land of UP as a movement for Congress. The party not only talks about women empowerment, but it takes it to the ground level.” She said that ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ is just not a poll slogan for Congress, but it’s a movement launched to empower and make the women of the country and the state capable socially and economically. “The objective of this movement is to bring women and their aspirations into the mainstream of Indian politics,” she said. D’Souza said that in UP polls the party promised to give tickets to 40 per cent women and it fulfilled it. “The party gave a chance to 159 female candidates to contest the election,” he said. She said the march will start at 12 noon from 1090 crossing in Gomti Nagar and end at Virangana Uda Devi at Sikander Bagh crossing. “Taking the ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ campaign forward in March, all 159 women candidates will participate in the march. Besides, all elected women representatives of the party have been invited in the programme,” she added. AB RJ
