Prime Minister Modi to Visit Somnath Temple and Inaugurate Sardar Dham Complex in Vadodara

New Delhi, May 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Somnath Temple in Gujarat on Monday for prayers. He is also scheduled to participate in various religious, administrative, and community events in Gir Somnath and Vadodara.

PM Modi began his two-day trip to Gujarat on Sunday night, arriving in Jamnagar. Extensive security arrangements have been made in Jamnagar, Somnath, and Vadodara ahead of his visit, with special programs organized to welcome him.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Modi will take part in the ‘Somnath Amrit Mahotsav’ at the Somnath Temple on Monday morning. This festival marks the 75th anniversary of the temple’s inauguration after its reconstruction. He is expected to participate in ‘special Mahapuja’, ‘Kumbhabhishek’, and ‘flag hoisting’ ceremonies. During the event, he will also release a commemorative postage stamp and coin.

Following the recent electoral victories of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in local body elections in Gujarat and West Bengal, a roadshow has been organized in Vadodara. Officials anticipate a large turnout for this public welcome event. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi mentioned that people across Gujarat are very excited about the Prime Minister’s visit.

In Vadodara, PM Modi will inaugurate the ‘Sardar Dham Bhavan-3’, also known as the Shri Dushyant and Daksha Patel Complex. Located near the Waghodia Crossing on National Highway 8A, this complex has been constructed at an estimated cost of ₹150 crore and spans approximately 4.75 lakh square feet. It includes 278 residential rooms, an NRI guest house, an e-library, a career guidance center, a training center, and a hall with a seating capacity for around 1,000 people.

In recognition of his role in social reforms, Prime Minister Modi will also be honored with the ‘Sardar Ratna’ award by major organizations of the Patidar community. The event is expected to be attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister, members of the state cabinet, and representatives from various sectors.
