Prime Minister Modi Commemorates Dandi March Anniversary with Sanskrit Verse

New Delhi, March 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shared a Sanskrit verse to honor the notable figures involved in the Dandi March on its anniversary.

In a post on the social media platform X, Modi stated, “On this day in 1930, the Dandi March began. I respectfully remember all the distinguished individuals who participated.” He included a Sanskrit verse: “Satyameva Jayate Nanritam, Satyena Panthā Vitato Devayanah. Yenakramantyṛṣayo Hyāptakāmā Yatra Tatsaṭyasya Paramaṃ Nidhānam.”

The essence of this verse conveys that truth always prevails while falsehood is vanquished. It emphasizes the importance of following the path that sages have taken to attain joy and ultimate truth.

Earlier, on the anniversary of the significant chapter in the freedom struggle, the Dandi Salt Satyagraha, several leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Amit Shah posted on X, “On this day in 1930, Mahatma Gandhi initiated the Dandi Satyagraha, which intensified the desire for freedom across all ages and classes. This was a step towards self-reliance that changed the course of the freedom movement. I pay my respects to all the great souls of the Dandi Satyagraha.”

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also shared on X, “Mahatma Gandhi began the historic Dandi Salt Satyagraha on this day in 1930, opposing the oppressive salt laws of the British, which gave a new direction to the Indian freedom struggle. On this anniversary of the Dandi Salt Satyagraha, I humbly salute Mahatma Gandhi and the Satyagrahis.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wrote, “I bow to revered Bapu and all the immortal Satyagrahis. On this day in 1930, the Dandi Salt Satyagraha, led by Mahatma Gandhi from the Sabarmati Ashram, ignited a flame in the Indian freedom struggle, instilling self-empowerment and the mantra of self-rule in every citizen. This unprecedented Dandi March, which shook the roots of the brutal and undemocratic British rule, proved that truth, courage, and collective resolve can unsettle even empires.”
