According to the organization, making small changes in daily habits can significantly reduce the risk of this serious disease. WHO believes that if people incorporate these simple measures into their routines, the rising cases of Type 2 diabetes can be curtailed. Awareness and a proper lifestyle can indeed help in preventing this condition.
One of the most critical aspects is maintaining a balanced body weight. Excess weight can increase the risk of diabetes, making it essential to monitor and manage weight regularly.
Staying physically active is equally important. Experts recommend that everyone should engage in at least 20 to 30 minutes of exercise daily. Activities like brisk walking, cycling, or light sports can be beneficial. Regular exercise enhances the body’s insulin sensitivity and helps control blood sugar levels.
Diet also plays a vital role in diabetes prevention. The WHO advises consuming a balanced and nutritious diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and proteins.
