New Delhi, April 29: President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Himachal Pradesh has been modified due to inclement weather. The President’s Secretariat announced the cancellation of the scheduled visit to the Atal Tunnel (Rohtang) on April 29.
President Murmu is in Himachal Pradesh from April 27 to May 1, residing at the Presidential Retreat in Mashobra, Shimla. The visit to the Atal Tunnel was planned for April 29, but adverse weather conditions have led to the decision to cancel this program.
The Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh, along with the Governor’s Secretary, the Chief Minister’s Secretary, and other relevant officials, have been informed to take necessary actions regarding this change.
Meanwhile, a grand state banquet was held in honor of President Droupadi Murmu at the Himachal Pradesh Lok Bhawan in Shimla on Tuesday evening. The President arrived at approximately 7 PM, where she was welcomed by Governor Kavin Gupta, his wife Bindu Gupta, and Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia.
The Governor and his wife welcomed the President in the ‘Aditya Hall’ of Lok Bhawan. The President also engaged in cordial conversations with the Governor’s family members. Following this, she participated in the state banquet held in the ‘Darbar Hall’ of Lok Bhawan.
Present at the event were Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Health Minister Dr. Dhani Ram Shandil, Education Minister Rohit Thakur, MP Dr. Sikandar Kumar, Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission Captain Rameshwar Singh, Chief of Staff of ARTAC Lieutenant General S.S. Dahiya, Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari, along with High Court judges, senior officials, and distinguished citizens.
During her visit, the state government is showcasing Himachal’s culture and hospitality through various programs organized in her honor.
