
New Delhi, March 19: The nation is celebrating the arrival of the New Year alongside various festivals. On Thursday, Chaitra Shukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, Cheti Chand, Navreh, and Sajibu Cheroba are being observed. On this auspicious occasion, President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan extended their heartfelt wishes to the citizens, wishing them happiness, prosperity, and renewed energy.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, President Droupadi Murmu wrote, “On the holy occasion of Chaitra Shukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, Cheti Chand, Navreh, and Sajibu Cheroba, I extend my warm greetings to all citizens. These festivals, celebrated in various regions of the country to welcome the New Year, are vibrant symbols of India’s rich cultural diversity. I hope these joyous occasions bring prosperity and new hopes into everyone’s lives.”
Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan also shared his wishes, stating, “On the auspicious occasion of the New Year, Chaitra Shukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, Cheti Chand, Navreh, Sajibu Cheroba, and the beginning of Chaitra Navratri, I convey my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all citizens.”
He added, “These festivals celebrated in different parts of our country symbolize the beginning of the traditional New Year, herald the arrival of spring, and reflect the spirit of renewal and new beginnings, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage and the essence of ‘unity in diversity.’ I hope these joyous occasions infuse happiness, prosperity, and new hope into everyone’s lives.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his greetings for the festivals in separate posts. Regarding Navratri, he wrote, “Heartfelt wishes for Navratri to my family across the country. May this divine occasion of worshiping strength bring happiness, fortune, prosperity, and good health to all. With the immense grace of Goddess Durga, may everyone’s welfare be ensured, giving new energy to our commitment to a developed India. Jai Ambe Jagdambe Maa.”
PM Modi also extended his wishes for Gudi Padwa, stating, “Warm greetings to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa. This beautiful festival symbolizes the arrival of the New Year, bringing with it a message of new energy, hope, and opportunities. I wish that the coming year is filled with happiness, success, and good health for all. May it inspire each of us to move forward with unwavering determination, nurture our aspirations, and contribute meaningfully.”
