Vadodara, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : President Droupadi Murmu stated on Wednesday that the vision for a developed India by 2047 should encompass not just economic growth but also spiritual awakening. Speaking at an event organized by the Brahma Kumaris in Vadodara, she highlighted the importance of nurturing youth who are equipped with knowledge, technology, skills, and also possess self-confidence, self-discipline, and moral values.
Murmu emphasized that India’s vast youth population could play a pivotal role in nation-building if their energy and talents are channeled positively. “Today, the youth are awake. The dream of a developed India by 2047 is not solely about economic progress but also about spiritual enlightenment. The world is looking towards India,” she remarked.
With approximately 65 percent of India’s 1.4 billion population being young, she stressed the need for a focused approach to their overall development. After virtually inaugurating the Brahma Kumaris’ national initiative, “Awakening Inner Strength for Nation Building,” she reiterated the necessity for young people to cultivate not only technical skills but also qualities like confidence, positive thinking, sensitivity, and ethical values.
The President noted that today’s youth are facing a rapidly changing world characterized by digital advancements, information overload, intense competition, evolving lifestyles, and societal expectations. While opportunities abound, so do challenges. To navigate these, she called for the development of inner strength, which encompasses self-awareness, concentration, emotional balance, a positive outlook, and self-discipline.
Murmu explained that when youth direct their thoughts, emotions, and actions positively, the impact reverberates through their families, workplaces, communities, and ultimately the nation. She also referenced Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy in nation-building as a source of inspiration for the youth.
The President proposed that India’s spiritual heritage could be integrated with modern science, technology, and innovative ideas to create a comprehensive model for development. Principles such as yoga, meditation, non-violence, compassion, and the philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” continue to inspire the world.
In conclusion, Murmu urged for a vision of India that is economically prosperous, scientifically robust, socially inclusive, and spiritually awakened. The event also marked the launch of the Brahma Kumaris’ 2026 national theme, “Spiritual Awakening for Global Renewal,” coinciding with the organization’s 90-year spiritual journey.
