Mumbai, August 13: The Pratapgarh police have taken significant action against the convoy of Umar Ahmed, son of mafia figure Atiq Ahmed. The Hathigwan police seized two luxury cars from the convoy at a toll plaza, following allegations of intimidation and obstruction of government duties.
The seized vehicles bear the registration numbers UP 70 GQ 4834 and UP 70 GV 2915. Authorities are now searching for other individuals who were in these vehicles.
According to police reports, Umar Ahmed was traveling under police custody from Lucknow to Prayagraj to attend the burial of his brother, Aban. Alongside the official convoy, a private convoy of Umar’s supporters was also present.
A dispute arose at the Akhtyari Kotila toll plaza over the payment of toll fees. Allegations suggest that individuals in the convoy verbally abused toll staff and attempted to break through the toll barrier, even trying to run over employees with their vehicles.
Following a complaint from the toll plaza manager, a case was registered at the Hathigwan police station. Charges include attempted murder, verbal abuse, and obstruction of government work, among other serious offenses. The case has been registered as Crime No. 166/2026.
In response to the incident, police took swift action. During the investigation, it was discovered that the two luxury cars involved in the dispute were located in Prayagraj. A team from Hathigwan police traced and seized both vehicles.
City CO Ashutosh Mishra stated, “The police have seized two vehicles in this case. We are currently searching for the accused. No arrests have been made yet.”
Authorities are identifying other vehicles and individuals involved based on CCTV footage and toll plaza records. Additional arrests are expected soon.
