New Delhi, February 16: Prasoon Joshi, the Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), emphasized the unprecedented impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on human civilization during the India AI Impact Expo 2026. He stated that this transformation could redefine human thought, future, and interpersonal relationships.
In his remarks, Joshi hailed the event as a historic achievement, extending his heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and the entire industry involved. He noted the significant enthusiasm among the general public regarding the expo.
Joshi remarked, “Whenever it comes to intellect, brainpower, and global thinking, India has always been at the forefront. A glance at history shows that ideas guiding the world have originated from India. The India AI Impact Expo serves as a platform for people to deliberate and determine the nature of humanity’s relationship with AI. This is not a minor shift; it is a transformation unlike any we have seen before.”
He further cautioned, “If we do not engage in serious discussions about the effects, applications, and future of AI, society could lose its way. AI can deeply penetrate human life and cause upheaval. Therefore, it is crucial to create platforms for open dialogue about technology and its social and human impacts.”
Joshi also emphasized India’s positive mindset, stating, “India is a place where diverse ideas come together for dialogue. The unique aspect of AI is that it makes knowledge equally accessible to everyone. There is no longer a disparity in knowledge between you and me; anyone can have the same information as an expert. This aligns perfectly with the essence of creation, where no one is superior or inferior; everyone is equal.”
He asserted that AI is fostering connections among people and can strengthen the sense of equality in society.
Addressing critics, Joshi suggested that those questioning India’s capabilities should visit Silicon Valley to witness the rapid advancements happening there and how India is progressing in this field.
He cited the example of Indian civilization, stating that history shows that whenever something new emerges, India adopts, adapts, and integrates it with its values. This adaptability is why Indian civilization has remained relevant for thousands of years. India possesses a rich heritage of art, culture, and philosophical traditions that can make technologies like AI beneficial for humanity.
