Polling for biennial elections to Bihar Legislative Council for 24 Local bodies under way

Patna, April 4 : Polling for the biennial elections to Bihar Legislative Council from 24 Local Authorities’ Constituencies was underway amid tight security arrangements since 08:00 hrs on Monday. Chief Electoral Officer H.R. Shrinivas said here that the polling will continue till 16:00 hrs. He said apart from elaborate security arrangements webcasting has been arranged at every polling booths and the voting was taking place peacefully. Altogether 187 candidates have thrown their hats for the biennial elections for the Legislative Council being held for 24 seats . He said that 134106 collectorate were exercising their franchise at 534 polling booths. The counting of votes on April 7. Maximum number of 14 candidates were in the fray from Saharsa-Madhepura-Supaul constituency whereas Bhojpur-Buxar constituency has the lowest number of only two candidates in the field . The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was contesting on all 24 seats of which BJP was contesting on 12 , JD(U) 11 and 1 seat has been left for the Lok Janshakti Party (Paras faction) of Pashupati Kumar Paras. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has fielded its candidates in 23 constituencies and has left one seat for the Comm st Party of India. Of the 24 seats, Congress was contesting on 16 . RS BM
