Mumbai, April 25: The political landscape is shifting as Raghav Chadha, a Rajya Sabha MP from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is rumored to be joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This development has sparked significant political discussions. Clyde Crasto, the national spokesperson for the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), voiced strong criticism regarding the BJP’s tactics.
In an interview, Crasto stated, “If Raghav Chadha joins the BJP, it wouldn’t be surprising. He has been deviating from AAP’s line for some time. When Arvind Kejriwal was facing challenges, Chadha left for abroad citing an operation.” He emphasized that the BJP has a long-standing strategy of enticing leaders from opposition parties.
Crasto further remarked, “Chadha must consider what his political standing will be after joining the BJP. He emerged as a key leader in AAP, but the BJP already has many prominent figures. It will be interesting to see how much significance he receives there.”
He also commented on Harbhajan Singh, stating, “While Harbhajan Singh is a well-known cricketer, his role in politics is different.” Crasto suggested that if Singh were to join the BJP, it would likely not have a significant impact on the public.
Criticizing the BJP, Crasto said, “The party’s ‘washing machine’ is always operational. The BJP consistently attempts to weaken opposition parties and recruit their leaders. Whenever the BJP sees an opportunity, they employ this strategy.”
On Friday, Raghav Chadha announced his resignation from AAP and his intention to join the BJP. He subsequently visited the BJP’s national office and met with party president Nitin Naveen, accompanied by Ashok Mittal and Sandeep Pathak. During this meeting, Naveen welcomed them with sweets.
