Political Reactions Intensify Following Arrest of Sai Bhagirath in POCSO Case

Hyderabad, May 17: The arrest of Sai Bhagirath, son of Union Minister Bandhi Sanjay Kumar, in a POCSO case has sparked a flurry of political commentary. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has denied any interference, emphasizing respect for the law, while opposition parties have hailed the move as a positive step.
BJP leader and High Court lawyer Krishna Kant Pothireddy stated, “As Bandhi Sanjay Kumar mentioned on Saturday, Sai Bhagirath has surrendered to the police, respecting the legal process and the judiciary. Our stance has always been clear: we have full faith in the Constitution, legal procedures, and the judiciary.”
BJP spokesperson R.P. Singh in New Delhi added, “The law will take its course. We will not intervene or defend. Bandhi Sanjay Kumar has advised his son to surrender, which is commendable. Any legal actions will be conducted according to the law.”
TRS leader M. Varalakshmi expressed surprise at the situation, saying, “Today we are witnessing something astonishing. Bandhi Sanjay claims he handed his son over to the police, meaning he took him to the station himself. However, the police state they arrested him.”
M. Kodandaram, founder of the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), welcomed the arrest, stating, “Sai Bhagirath has finally been apprehended, which is absolutely right. The law prohibits any physical relations with a minor. This is a serious crime. Sai Bhagirath was misusing his father’s position to intimidate and exert pressure on people. The law is equal for everyone.”
Meanwhile, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), executive president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has called for the immediate removal of the Union Minister to ensure a fair and independent investigation.
