Police Constable Commits Suicide at Shahdol Police Lines

Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh – A police constable on duty at the Shahdol Police Lines Reserve Centre took his own life by shooting himself with his service rifle around 1:25 am on Thursday. He was posted for quarter guard duty at the time of the incident.

According to Kotwali Police Station in-charge Raghvendra Tiwari, the constable, identified as 29-year-old Shishir Singh Rajput, shot himself near the neck, with the bullet passing through his head. He died instantly at the scene.

Police investigations revealed that shortly before the incident, the constable was engaged in a phone conversation. Following an argument during the call, he angrily threw his mobile phone to the ground, breaking it. Moments later, he used his service rifle to shoot himself.

The sound of the gunshot alerted nearby police personnel who were asleep. They immediately rushed to the spot and informed senior officers.

Senior officials arrived quickly and collected evidence, including the broken mobile phone, to conduct a detailed investigation into the circumstances and reasons behind the suicide.

Shishir Singh Rajput joined the police force in 2013 as a child constable on compassionate grounds after his father’s death. He was regularised as a constable in 2015 upon turning 18 and was currently serving in Shahdol. He is survived by his mother and three sisters.

Authorities have informed the family and are providing necessary support during this difficult time.

The police are working to determine the cause behind this unfortunate incident. Legal formalities and post-mortem procedures are underway.
