Mathura, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant operation, the Mathura police, along with the Special Operations Group (SOG), apprehended a wanted criminal during an encounter late Sunday night. The suspect was shot in the leg during a police response and has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
According to Circle Officer Anil Kumar, the police team was conducting checks near a canal bridge on the road from Govardhan to Nagla Sapera around 10:35 PM. They attempted to stop a suspicious motorcyclist, who, feeling cornered, opened fire on the officers.
In self-defense, the police returned fire, hitting the suspect in his right leg. He fell to the ground, allowing the police to make the arrest. The arrested individual has been identified as 27-year-old Mustaq, also known as “Goli,” a resident of Mukharai. During questioning, he confessed to having eloped with a girl ten days prior and was wanted in a case registered at the Govardhan police station.
Following the encounter, the injured suspect was taken to the Community Health Center in Govardhan for initial treatment before being referred to the district hospital in Mathura. Police recovered ₹2,750, a firearm, cartridges, a motorcycle, the victim’s mark sheet, a driving license, and a fake Aadhaar card from his possession.
Additionally, a woman from Farah has been arrested for extorting money by threatening to implicate a man in a false case. She, along with an accomplice named Om Prakash, had been blackmailing the victim for a significant sum, leading him to file a complaint against them.
