PM Modi Welcomes UAE President Al Nahyan in New Delhi

New Delhi witnessed a significant diplomatic event as Prime Minister Narendra Modi warmly welcomed the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with his family, at his Lok Kalyan Marg residence on Monday.

Expressing his pleasure on the visit, Prime Minister Modi took to the social media platform X to extend greetings not only to the UAE President but also to other dignitaries including Dubai’s Crown Prince and UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted that the presence of members of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s family underscored the special significance of this visit. He noted that it reflects the unbreakable trust and strong bilateral ties between India and the UAE, reinforcing confidence in the bright future of their comprehensive strategic partnership.

Diplomatic Engagements and Strategic Discussions

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri described the UAE President’s recent official visit to New Delhi as brief but highly important. He remarked that the Prime Minister personally received Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed at the airport, signaling the warmth and closeness of the relationship between the two leaders. The delegation then accompanied the President to the Prime Minister’s residence, where discussions took place in both limited and larger formats, involving exchanges between delegation members.

Several documents were exchanged during these meetings, highlighting the visit’s significance. The delegation included members of the royal families of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, along with senior ministers and officials, reflecting the high level of engagement between the two nations.

Boosting Bilateral Trade and Economic Partnership

On the economic front, since the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in 2022, bilateral trade between India and the UAE has crossed the $100 billion mark. Both leaders have agreed to raise this target, aiming to double the trade volume to $200 billion by 2032.

Additionally, there was a commitment to facilitate exports from MSME industries to regions including West Asia, Africa, and Eurasia, further strengthening economic cooperation and opening new avenues for trade expansion.

This visit marks another milestone in the growing partnership between India and the UAE, emphasizing mutual trust, strategic collaboration, and shared economic aspirations.
