PM Modi Invites Denmarks Pension Funds to Boost Investment in India

New Delhi, May 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a significant meeting with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in Oslo on Tuesday. During this meeting, he extended an invitation for Denmark’s pension funds to increase their investments in India.

Following their discussion on the sidelines of the third India-Nordic Summit, PM Modi shared on X, “I had a meaningful meeting with Mette Frederiksen in Oslo. The friendship between India and Denmark has made remarkable progress in recent years. Cooperation has increased in areas such as water resources, clean energy, shipping, and food processing. We can expect similar collaboration in fintech, industry, defense, innovation, and other sectors in the coming years. I have also invited Denmark’s pension funds to enhance their investments in India.”

PM Modi expressed confidence that a free trade agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union would be highly beneficial for both economies.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, both leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation and expressed satisfaction with the progress made on their joint agenda.

The ministry noted, “Both leaders welcomed the advancements made under the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership, prioritizing cooperation in environmental and climate change initiatives and joint efforts to promote green transitions in both countries.”

PM Modi also indicated India’s readiness to welcome Danish technologies for green solutions in its rapidly developing economy.

The ministry highlighted the successful collaboration between India and Denmark in establishing the Smart Laboratory on Clean Rivers (SLCR) in Varanasi. This unique trilateral initiative involves the Indian government, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Banaras Hindu University, and the Danish government. The leaders also discussed mobility partnerships.

They decided to strengthen cooperation in new and emerging technologies, communication, advanced research, startups, and academic exchanges.

Furthermore, discussions included collaboration in defense and artificial intelligence (AI). PM Modi invited Danish companies to establish a presence in the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).
