PM Modi Inaugurates Historic Rapid Rail and Metro Project in Meerut

New Delhi, February 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Nammo Bharat Rapid Rail and Meerut Metro line on Sunday, calling it a new source of energy for a ‘Developed Uttar Pradesh’ and ‘Developed India.’ This marks the first time in India that both rapid rail and metro services have been launched from the same platform on the same day.

During the inauguration, PM Modi addressed the gathering, highlighting that this project exemplifies connectivity in a developed India. The integrated system utilizes metro services for urban travel and Nammo Bharat trains to enhance the concept of “twin cities.”

On social media platform X, PM Modi shared photos from his visit, stating that today is historic for the construction of modern infrastructure in the country. He expressed pride in dedicating the entire Delhi-Meerut Nammo Bharat corridor to the nation.

In another post, he emphasized the government’s commitment to making travel easier and more convenient for citizens. The Meerut Metro network will also simplify life for local residents.

PM Modi traveled on the metro and interacted with students present there. Sharing photos with children, he noted that the conversations during his metro ride made the experience even more memorable. The enthusiasm of Meerut residents regarding development projects infused new energy into the event.

While addressing the crowd in Meerut, PM Modi asserted that projects are no longer left hanging. He emphasized that his government completes the foundations it lays, as he personally inaugurated these services.

The Prime Minister pointed out that before 2014, metro services were limited to just five cities, but now they operate in over 25 cities, making India the third-largest metro network in the world. Regarding the rapid rail, he mentioned its unique feature of integrating Indian Railways, metro, and bus stands at Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. For the first time in India, Nammo Bharat and metro rail will operate on the same track and station.

This integration will provide passengers with the convenience of traveling within the city or heading directly to Delhi, alleviating the need for many workers and students to live in rented accommodations in the capital.
