
New Delhi, April 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the passing of legendary Indian singer and Padma Vibhushan awardee Asha Bhosle. He shared several photos from their past meetings on social media, emphasizing that he will always cherish those memories.
PM Modi remarked that Asha’s extraordinary musical journey enriched India’s cultural heritage and touched countless hearts worldwide. Her melodies and vibrant compositions left an indelible mark on music lovers.
On the social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of Asha Bhosle Ji, one of India’s most iconic and versatile voices. Her remarkable musical journey, which spanned decades, enriched our cultural heritage and resonated with countless hearts across the globe. Whether through her soul-stirring tunes or her lively creations, her voice was always unparalleled. I will forever treasure the memories of our meetings. My heartfelt condolences to her family, fans, and music lovers. She will continue to inspire future generations, and her songs will always echo in people’s lives.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed his condolences on X, stating, “Today is a sad day for every Indian, especially for music lovers like me, as our beloved Asha Bhosle Ji is no longer with us. Asha Tai not only carved a unique identity with her melodious voice and exceptional talent but also enriched Indian music with her melodies. Her unique ability to adapt to various music genres won the hearts of many. Asha Ji, who touched millions of hearts with her voice, left an everlasting impression in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Gujarati, and many other languages, including folk songs.”
He added, “Asha Tai’s voice had as much tenderness as her demeanor had simplicity and warmth. Whenever we met, we would have long conversations about music and art. Though she may not be with us today, her voice will always remain in our hearts. May God grant Asha Ji a place at His feet. I extend my deepest condolences to her family and countless fans.”
