
New Delhi, February 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in bilateral discussions with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, who is in India for the AI Impact Summit 2026. Modi emphasized the significance of this meeting for both nations.
On social media platform X, PM Modi shared two photos and stated, “I had an extensive conversation with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo. I thanked him for his personal assistance with the India-EU FTA, which will usher in a golden era for India-Europe relations.”
Modi further noted that both India and Finland aim to double their trade, strengthening economic ties. They also discussed enhancing cooperation in futuristic technologies such as 6G, innovation, clean energy, biofuels, and the circular economy.
During the meeting, PM Modi and PM Orpo explored collaboration in sustainable development, digitalization, AI research, and ethical innovation. Modi highlighted how Indian talent could bolster bilateral cooperation. He praised Finland’s efforts as an emerging player in AI innovation. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to promoting responsible, talent-driven AI and utilizing tech-enabled solutions for a sustainable future.
The AI Impact Summit 2026 is taking place from February 16 to 20. This five-day event features tech giants, politicians, and top leaders from various countries. Over 100 government representatives are participating, including more than 20 heads of state and government leaders, along with 60 ministers. Additionally, over 500 global AI leaders, including CEOs, founders, academics, and researchers, are also involved.
Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the AI Impact Summit Expo on the evening of February 16, where he appreciated the progress of the country’s startups and established institutions in the AI sector.
At the ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026,’ heads of state, government officials, ministers, global technology leaders, prominent researchers, multilateral institutions, and industry stakeholders will discuss the role of AI in promoting inclusive development, strengthening public systems, and enabling sustainable growth.
