PM Modi Advocates Technology Solutions to Combat Cyber Fraud

New Delhi, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the importance of technology-based solutions to combat the rising threat of cyber fraud during a meeting with board members of the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) in New Delhi. This discussion took place ahead of the India Mobile Congress.

Modi highlighted that technology should serve as a tool for inclusive and sustainable development. He emphasized the need to democratize technology to ensure no segment of society is left behind. The Prime Minister specifically pointed to the necessity of making technology and digital services affordable and accessible for the Global South, while also addressing the growing digital divide.

He underscored the transformative potential of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), particularly for developing nations. Modi noted that discussions with various world leaders on DPI have highlighted its increasing global relevance, suggesting that such platforms can serve as a foundation for countries in the Global South.

Addressing the challenge of digital and cyber fraud, Modi called for technology-driven solutions. He recommended that users receive ongoing awareness messages to alert them about potential fraudulent calls.

The Prime Minister also advocated for the establishment of global standards and common regulations for emerging technologies. He expressed concern over the risks posed by deepfake technology and AI-generated content, suggesting that mechanisms should be developed to help users quickly identify the sources of such materials.
