New Delhi, March 5 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday evening held another high level meeting to discuss the situation arising out of continuing Russia-Ukraine conflict and the India’s efforts to evacuate it’s citizens. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, NSA Ajit Doval and various other officials were present in the meeting. The MEA said that its main focus is on the evacuation of nearly 700 Indian students stranded in the eastern Ukrainian city of Sumy which is close to the Russian border. The students who are stranded in the hostel of a medical versity have posted a number of videos appealing for early evacuation. “We are deeply concerned about Indian students in Sumy, Ukraine. We have strongly pressed Russian and Ukrainian governments through multiple channels for an immediate ceasefire to create a safe corridor for our students,” MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said. The government have advised the students to take safety precautions, stay inside shelters and avoid unnecessary risks. “Ministry and our Embassies are in regular touch with the students,” he added. India on Saturday airlifted 3,000 Indians through 12 civilian and 3 IAF flights from Ukraine’s neighbouring countries, Ministry of Civil Aviation said. More than 13,700 Indian citizens have been brought back since the special flights began on 22nd February. Four on Ministers as the Prime Minister’s special envoys have been sent to Ukraine’s neighbouring countries to coordinate the evacuation exercise. ASU ACL2346
