Phil Foden Set to Sign Long-Term Contract with Manchester City

Manchester, May 5: 25-year-old Phil Foden is nearing an agreement to extend his future with Manchester City. Reports indicate that the midfielder has reached consensus on a new, long-term contract with the club.

Foden’s current deal is set to expire next year, but according to BBC reports, he is poised to sign a new four-year contract. This extension will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2030.

This new contract comes at a time when the midfielder has been struggling with his form this season. Since December 14 of last year, Foden has not scored a single goal. Despite this dip in performance, the former Premier League champions have shown complete faith in this talented player by offering him a new contract, which will be officially announced soon.

Foden has already established an impressive career at Manchester City. He has netted 110 goals in 365 appearances for the club. Notably, by the age of 25, he has played a crucial role in one of the most successful periods in the club’s history, winning numerous prestigious trophies, including 6 Premier League titles, 5 League Cups, 2 FA Cups, and the coveted UEFA Champions League trophy in 2023.

His individual talent has also received significant recognition. During the 2023-24 season, Foden delivered his best performance yet, scoring a total of 27 goals across all competitions. His outstanding contributions have not only underscored his importance to City but have also earned him several prestigious individual accolades, including ‘Footballer of the Year’ and ‘PFA Player of the Year.’

Meanwhile, Manchester City faces tough competition from Arsenal in the Premier League. After drawing with Everton on Monday, City has given the Gunners a chance to contend for the title. Manchester City’s next match is against Crystal Palace on May 14, where they will aim for another Premier League title.
