Kochi, April 16 : Kerala High Court has recently admitted a petition seeking compensation of Rs 10 crore for the death of a 19-year-old girl who died just two weeks after taking the Covishield vaccine. Justice N Nagaresh has admitted the petition filed by the parents of the girl who died allegedly due to a rare immunogenic response to the newly developed anti-Covid vaccine by the Serum Institute of India and its partner Bill Gates. The court also sought the views of the on Government on the issue. The petition says that the girl, who developed heath problems soon after the vaccination, was taken to a hospital from where she was discharged on the same day after providing symptomatic treatment. When her condition became deteriorated, she was taken to another hospital where she was put on ventilator. Later, she died due to inter-cranial bleeding on August 12, 2021. Acoording to various reports including the District Medical Officer of Pathanamthitta, she developed health issues including thrombosis syndrome after receiving the first dose of the Covishield. Stating that the death was due to the administration of Covishield, the parents said the Serum Institute, the Central and State Governments were responsible for not informing the public about the complications related to the vaccination. The Government authorities recommended the vaccine without conducting proper studies on its side effects, they added. The hospital also failed to diagnose the illness and its cause, they alleged.
