
Bhiwadi, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : The local body elections in Rajasthan’s Khairthal-Tijara district concluded peacefully, with a voter turnout of 80.25%. Voting took place in three municipal councils—Bhiwadi, Khairthal, and Tijara—until 6 PM on September 9, 2026. Aside from minor incidents, no significant disturbances were reported.
According to the district control room, a total of 140 wards were contested, with 136,426 registered voters. Out of these, 109,488 exercised their right to vote. The highest turnout was recorded in the Tijara municipal council, while Bhiwadi, known for its industrial base, saw the lowest participation.
In Bhiwadi, 48,085 out of 65,435 registered voters cast their ballots, resulting in a turnout of 73.49%. Voters formed lines at polling stations from early morning, although turnout slowed during the afternoon heat before picking up again in the evening.
The Khairthal municipal council, covering 45 wards, had 41,652 out of 48,786 voters participating, yielding a turnout of 85.38%, significantly above the district average.
Tijara displayed the highest enthusiasm, with 19,751 of 22,205 voters casting their votes, achieving a remarkable turnout of 88.95%, the highest among the three councils.
The district administration implemented robust security measures to ensure peaceful voting, deploying police forces at all polling stations and enhancing security in sensitive areas. Prior campaigns to raise voter awareness also contributed to the increased turnout.
Attention now turns to September 14, when the counting of votes will take place at the headquarters of all three municipal councils, with results expected to determine the governing bodies of these cities.
