Patel needs permission to leave: CBI judge

New Delhi, April 8 : A CBI Special Judge on Friday stayed the order of another court and directed that former Amnesty International India chief Aakar Patel will not leave the country without permission. The court also stayed the order of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate who had directed the CBI to offer a written apology to Patel for stopping him from leaving for the US. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a revision petition against the order of the earlier court after Patel raised the issue of a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against him. Patel on Friday filed a contempt petition before the court against the Investigating Officer of CBI for non compliance of the order of the court because he was again stopped on Thursday night. Magistrate Pawan Kumar passed an order on February 7 by directing the CBI to withdraw the LOC issued against Patel immediately and directed a written apology to Patel. CBI Special Judge Santosh Snehi Mann after hearing the revision petition of CBI stayed the earlier order and directed that Patel will not leave the country without permission. XC MR
