Papon and Parvaaz strike a chord with the audience on the first day of Vedanta Udaipur Music Festival

The music festival is being held in Rajasthan’s Udaipur from the 16th to the 18th of December, 2022.

Udaipur : Vedanta Udaipur World Music Festival, India’s biggest world music extravaganza, kickstarted today. The 3-day festival has been conceptualized and produced by Seher and is brought to you by Rajasthan Tourism. The very first day of the festival witnessed power-packed performances by 20 celebrated Sarangi players and renowned singers like Papon, Jasleen Aulakh, Parvaaz, Abakorao, and others.

This year, the theme of the Vedanta Udaipur World Music Festival has been focused on the revival of forgotten musical instruments like the Sarangi by giving local musicians an international platform to showcase their talent.

After the performance at the music festival, Papon said,” Performing at this music festival was a surreal experience. The audiences here are true music lovers, and it was great to see them groove. I am incredibly thankful to Seher and Hindustan Zinc Limited for offering me the opportunity to perform at the  Vedanta Udaipur World Music Festival.”

Speaking of the event, Sanjeev Bhargava, Founder Director of Seher, said, “This is the 6th year of organizing this music festival in Udaipur. We have started the event on a great note with iconic performances by sarangi players and other artists. Throughout the last six years, we have been showered with immense love from our audience, which is the festival’s key to success. This year’s line-up will witness world-class performances from musicians and artists across the globe. And we are waiting to enjoy every performance. ”

The spokesperson of Hindustan Zinc Limited said, “The response from the audience on the first day of the Vedanta Udaipur Music Festival has been overwhelming. This festival is close to our hearts. The performances lined up for the next two days will be able to strike a chord with the audience in a better way. We are looking forward to enjoying the festival.”

The 6th edition of Vedanta Udaipur World Music Festival will witness performances by over 120 renowned musicians worldwide. The second day will host artists like well-known violinist Nandini Shankar, Bruno Loi and Jonathan Della Marianna, showcasing the Launeddas instrument from Italy, Kamakshi Khanna, Katia Guerreiro, the eminent Fado singer from Portugal, SENZA from Portugal, Blessing Bled Chimanga & Dreams from Zimbabwe, the very popular The Raghu Dixit Project and Habla de mi en presente, a high energy band from Spain.

The day will also witness the performance of Sarangi players and the announcement of the results of the Vedanta Talent Hunt. On the third and final day of the music festival, audiences will see performances by Srijani Ghose from Australia, Anoushka Maskey, actor-singer-songwriter Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Aabha Hanjura, Naveen Koomar ft. Harjot Kaur and Vedang, India’s premier Solo Percussive Acoustic Guitarist Dhruv Visvanath, the Electric Percussions Orchestra from France, Albaluna from Portugal, and Farhan Akhtar.

The festival also hosts the Vedanta Talent Hunt, which aspires to give local artists from Udaipur and neighbouring districts a platform to showcase their talent. This is done to help audiences reconnect with the musical soul of the region and give recognition to artists who inhabit the bylanes of this beautiful city of lakes.
