Pakistan Triumphs Over Australia by 22 Runs in First T20 with Ayub’s All-Round Brilliance

Lahore witnessed an exciting start to the T20 series as Pakistan defeated Australia by 22 runs in the first match held at Gaddafi Stadium. The victory gives Pakistan a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

After winning the toss, Pakistan elected to bat and posted a total of 168 runs for the loss of eight wickets. The innings began on a shaky note with Sahibzada Farhan dismissed on the very first ball. However, captain Salman Agha and Saeem Ayub steadied the innings with a 74-run partnership off 45 balls.

Ayub showcased his aggressive form, scoring 40 runs from 22 balls, including two sixes and three boundaries, before getting out. Captain Salman Agha contributed 39 runs in 27 deliveries with five boundaries. Later, Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam added 37 runs for the fourth wicket, though Babar was dismissed after scoring 24. Usman Khan also chipped in with 18 runs.

From the Australian bowling side, Adam Zampa was the most successful, taking four wickets for 24 runs. Xavier Bartlett and Mahli Beardsmore claimed two wickets each.

By the time both openers were out, the score was 28. Cameron Green and Matt Renshaw then attempted to revive the innings with a 40-run stand. However, once that partnership ended, wickets started tumbling. Despite a resilient unbeaten 34-run partnership between Xavier Bartlett and Adam Zampa for the eighth wicket, Australia could not reach the target.

For Pakistan, Saeem Ayub and Abrar Ahmed took two wickets each, while Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz picked one wicket apiece. Saeem Ayub’s impactful all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
