Pakistan: Aleem Khan and Nawaz Sharif discuss no-trust move

Islamabad, March 12 : Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo Nawaz Sharif and disgruntled Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Aleem Khan met in London this week and discussed the opposition’s move to dislodge Prime Minister Imran Khan through a no confidence motion, Dawn reported on Saturday. The meeting took place as opposition parties geared up to move a no-confidence motion against PM Khan in the National Assembly, who has been decrying at his political rivals at various public meetings. The meeting between Aleem Khan and Sharif took place soon after the former’s arrival in the ted Kingdom, at the Sharif family’s office in Stanhope House. The meeting between Aleem Khan and Nawaz Sharif in London did not come as a surprise as the PTI lawmaker was here to meet Jahangir Khan Tareen, who is currently in Oxford undergoing treatment, which has raised speculations that the meeting was on the cards. However, the two estranged leaders of the ruling PTI have not met yet, and Aleem Khan instead called on Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday. Sharif Nawaz, however, refused to answers questions regarding the meeting with Aleem Khan. According to sources, Aleem Khan is said to have told Sharif about his political victimisation at the hands of NAB, and his arrest in 2019 in an assets beyond means case. This has also led to speculations that Aleem Khan might be contemplating joining the PML-N or the slot of the chief minister of Punjab.
