Jamtara, May 17: A shocking incident has emerged from Jamtara, where the idol of Goddess Parvati in the Durga temple complex at Gandhi Maidan has been vandalized. The news of the damage sparked outrage among local residents.

Community members have condemned the act, attributing it to miscreants and demanding the swift arrest of those responsible. Upon receiving the report, police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.

On Sunday morning, around 7 AM, several local devotees visiting the temple for prayers discovered the idol in a damaged state. They immediately alerted nearby residents and the temple committee, leading to a large crowd gathering at the site.

Local resident Shyam Dev Chaudhary expressed his concerns, stating that the manner in which the idol was harmed clearly indicates an intent to disrupt social harmony. He warned that if the authorities do not identify and apprehend the culprits promptly, the community may resort to aggressive protests.

In response to the incident, investigating officer B.S. Pandit, who arrived with police reinforcements, stated that the police are thoroughly investigating the matter. He emphasized the need to quickly apprehend the antisocial elements responsible for the act. Additionally, the police administration has engaged with local leaders, urging residents to maintain peace and order while disregarding rumors. As a precaution, police are maintaining vigilance in the area.
