Surat, May 20: In a significant move to restore law and order, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Surat Police has launched a major crackdown against criminals who have been instilling fear in the community by flaunting weapons on social media. DCP Rajdeep Singh Nakum announced details of ‘Operation Rambo,’ warning offenders to mend their ways or face severe consequences from the police.
The operation spanned across 11 police station jurisdictions, resulting in the arrest of 72 individuals. Among those apprehended are 14 from the Limbayat police station, 13 from Bhestan, and 11 from Salabatpura, along with various others from different areas of the city.
Authorities seized a range of dangerous weapons from the suspects, including knives, Rambo knives, and swords. These criminals had been openly brandishing these weapons, causing panic among the public. All arrested individuals have a prior criminal history, and police have been monitoring them for some time.
Two notable arrests include Asif Talwar, a notorious gangster linked to the infamous ‘Gujsi Talk Double Murder’ case, and Arbaaz Alam Khan Pathan, who had been wanted for a stabbing and assault case in the Dindoli area.
Additionally, police issued a stern warning to ‘social media rockers’ who create reels flaunting weapons. They cautioned that those who carry knives, Rambo knives, or swords in public or boast about them online will face strict action, including a ‘special treatment’ that will make them reconsider their criminal activities.
