Dehradun, March 6: Online registration for the Char Dham Yatra 2026 commenced today at 7 AM. Offline registration will begin on April 17. The Uttarakhand government has made registration mandatory before the pilgrimage. Interested participants can register online through the Uttarakhand government’s website registrationdtouristcare.uk.gov.in or via the Tourist Care Uttarakhand mobile app.
According to a statement from the Uttarakhand government, the doors of Yamunotri and Gangotri will open on April 19. Kedarnath will open on April 22, followed by Badrinath on April 23. The official announcement for Shri Hemkund Sahib will be made later.
Indian pilgrims can register using their Aadhaar cards, while foreign visitors will have the option to register using their email IDs. For those without Aadhaar cards, registration counters will be available, similar to last year. These counters will start operating two days before the opening of the doors, beginning April 17, 2026. Registration centers and transit camps will be set up in Rishikesh, Haridwar at Rishikul Ground, and in Dehradun at Vikas Nagar.
Pilgrims can call the toll-free number 0135-1364 for any inquiries or assistance. The Uttarakhand government urges all pilgrims to complete their registration in advance to ensure a smooth and organized journey.
According to religious beliefs, starting the Char Dham Yatra from Yamunotri ensures that devotees face no obstacles during their pilgrimage. Yamunotri is the source of the Yamuna River, who is considered the sister of Yama, the god of death, and is believed to alleviate the sufferings of all who bathe in her waters. It is said that those who take a dip in Yamunotri are liberated from the fear of death. As in previous years, millions of devotees are expected to visit the holy sites of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri this year.
