Odisha State Election Commission Holds All-Party Meeting for 2027 Panchayat and Municipal Elections
The Odisha State Election Commission convened an all-party meeting to discuss the voter list preparation for the upcoming 2027 elections.

Bhubaneswar, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : The Odisha State Election Commission (SEC) convened an all-party meeting on October 6 to discuss preparations for the upcoming 2027 Panchayat and municipal elections. The meeting aimed to ensure a transparent, fair, and error-free voter list.
Chaired by State Election Commissioner Madhusudan Padhi, the session included representatives from various recognized political parties. They shared their thoughts and suggestions on preparing the voter list for the elections.
During the meeting, attendees were informed about a door-to-door survey set to begin on October 26 across the state. This survey aims to enhance the accuracy, updating, and correctness of the voter list. It will assist in accurately including eligible voters and verifying information related to ineligible, transferred, or deceased voters.
The SEC urged all political parties to actively cooperate in the door-to-door survey process. Specifically, the commission requested each party to deploy booth-level agents (BLA) at all polling stations throughout the state and ensure their active participation during the survey.
Political parties were also asked to submit the details of their BLAs to the Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AERO) by October 15. In rural areas, this information must be submitted to the respective Block Development Officers (BDO), while in municipalities, it should go to the executive officers. In municipal corporations, details must be submitted to the deputy commissioners or assistant commissioners.
Commissioner Padhi emphasized that an accurate and error-free voter list is the foundation of a healthy and transparent electoral system. He expressed hope that the active cooperation of political parties would further enhance the reliability and accuracy of the voter list.
