Ahmedabad, May 6: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi participated in the ‘Odisha Investors Meet’ held in Ahmedabad. This conference is a significant step towards establishing Odisha as a preferred destination for next-generation industrial development under the Purvodaya initiative.
Addressing the conference, Chief Minister Majhi stated, “Gujarat has empowered western India. Now, Odisha is ready to empower eastern India, providing breadth, speed, and strategic reach to the next frontier of development. Odisha is not just an opportunity for future-oriented industries; it offers a long-term competitive advantage.”
On the first day of his visit to Gujarat, the Chief Minister witnessed strong participation from industry leaders, trade associations, and institutional stakeholders, reflecting growing confidence in Odisha’s evolving industrial ecosystem.
Majhi emphasized to an audience of over 500 industry representatives that the rise of eastern India would mark the next phase of India’s economic expansion, with Odisha at the center of this transformation.
“We bring a clear message that Odisha is prepared for the next chapter of India’s industrial growth. We invite the industry to collaborate with us in building a future-ready industrial ecosystem, invest, and grow,” he said.
The delegation included Industry Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, and senior officials from the Odisha government.
The event featured meetings and two regional roundtable conferences, including one focused on textiles. Direct interactions with industry leaders facilitated meaningful discussions on investment opportunities, policy support, and facilitation mechanisms.
The Chief Minister also chaired 26 individual meetings, demonstrating Odisha’s commitment to responsive governance and investor-centric engagement. Discussions covered various sectors, highlighting the state’s growing capabilities in both established and emerging industries.
During regional dialogues, particularly in the textile sector, he emphasized the deep cultural and economic ties between Odisha and Gujarat. “From the sacred land of Lord Jagannath in Puri to the revered Dwarka in Gujarat, our states share unbreakable cultural and civilizational bonds. Gujarat has long been a leader in the textile industry, and Odisha is emerging strongly with a supportive ecosystem, skilled workforce, and policy-driven development,” he stated.
Reinforcing Odisha’s comprehensive industrial vision, the Chief Minister added, “Odisha cannot be confined to a single sector. We are building an integrated industrial ecosystem that enables industries to invest, expand, innovate, and achieve sustainable long-term growth.”
Highlighting Odisha’s competitive edge, he remarked, “Odisha’s geographical location is a strategic advantage. With a long coastline and operational ports, we provide direct access to the Bay of Bengal and the Indo-Pacific development corridor, creating a robust platform for global connectivity and trade.”
Outlining the state’s governance approach, he noted, “Investors come where there is trust in intent, systems, and leadership. In Odisha, we are committed to ensuring that intent translates into action through transparency, accountability, and implementation.”
Industry Minister Sampad Chandra Swain stated that Odisha is continuously establishing itself as a future-ready industrial hub through strong infrastructure, port-based logistics, stable policies, and an accessible approach aimed at enabling sustainable and inclusive development.
Following successful meetings in major cities, the Odisha government will continue its targeted outreach to strengthen industry engagement and accelerate industrial development. The Ahmedabad roadshow further solidifies Odisha’s growing role in India’s industrial landscape, based on strategic positioning, strong governance, and a clear vision for the future.
