Siwan, May 3: Following a change in power, police in Bihar have entered an action mode. They are conducting continuous operations against criminals, responding to gunfire with their own.
In a recent encounter in the Barharia police station area of Siwan district, notorious criminal Sonu Yadav, who had a bounty of ₹25,000 on his head, was killed early Sunday morning. Yadav was accused of murdering Harsh Kumar, the nephew of a BJP leader.
During the incident, Chandan Singh, a relative of BJP leader Manoj Singh, was seriously injured and is currently undergoing treatment. A police officer reported that they received a tip-off indicating that Sonu Yadav was heading towards Barharia to commit another crime.
Based on this information, a police team was formed. When the special team attempted to surround the criminals at a specific location, Yadav opened fire. The police quickly retaliated. Reports indicate that Sonu Yadav was severely injured in the exchange and was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors.
Earlier, Chhotu Yadav was arrested following the encounter. He sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and is currently receiving treatment. The police also apprehended another suspect in the case, from whom they recovered the vehicle used in the murder.
It is noteworthy that Ramdhani Yadav, accused of murdering Executive Officer Krishna Bhushan Kumar at the Sultan Ganj Municipal Council office in Bhagalpur district, was killed in a police encounter early Wednesday. Three police officers were also injured in that incident.
