North Korea Launches Dozens of Ballistic Missiles into East Sea, South Korea Reports

South Korea claims North Korea fired nearly a dozen short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea, escalating regional tensions.

Seoul, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : South Korean military officials reported that North Korea launched approximately a dozen short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea on Thursday. The missiles were fired from the Wonsan area around 12:30 PM local time.

According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), an analysis of the missiles’ range and technical specifications is currently underway. This incident comes two weeks after North Korea claimed to have tested “tactical ballistic missiles” on October 12, which was said to enhance a critical component of its weaponry.

The JCS has increased its surveillance efforts and remains on high alert for any potential missile tests. Additionally, South Korea is sharing information with the United States and Japan to maintain a robust defense posture in light of this latest missile launch.

On October 17, North Korea also claimed to have tested a new high-speed, precision-targeting torpedo system called “Jam-2.0” (ZM-2.0), which is reportedly equipped with artificial intelligence. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) confirmed the test the following day, stating that AI technology was utilized for target identification and engagement. The agency noted that the test validated key technologies related to propulsion system efficiency and the performance of rocket propulsion devices, with over 180 tests related to this system conducted in the past five years.
