North East Frontier Railway Opens Applications for 6,777 Apprentice Positions

Guwahati, August 3: A significant opportunity has emerged for youth aspiring to work in the railway sector. The North East Frontier Railway (NF Railway) has announced the opening of applications for a total of 6,777 apprentice positions under the Apprentices Act of 1961. This recruitment aims to provide training in various trades across its workshops, divisions, and units.

The available positions are distributed across several units, including 1,103 at the Katihar (KIR) and Tindharia (TDH) workshops, 651 at Alipurduar (APDJ), 750 at Rangiya (RNY), 1,274 at Lumding (LMG), 860 at Tinsukia (TSK), 881 at the New Bongaigaon workshop (NBQS) and Engineering Workshop (EWS/BNGN), 763 at the Dibrugarh workshop (DBWS), and 495 at the headquarters (HQ)/Maligaon, covering various fields such as accounts, civil engineering, medical, personnel, track machine (TMC), and bridge units.

The online application process commenced on July 20 at 9 AM, with the last date for submission set for August 19. Interested candidates can complete their registration on the official North East Frontier Railway website before 5:30 PM on the deadline.

Applicants must have passed the matriculation (Class 10) or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks from a recognized board/institution, except for Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology/Radiology) positions. Additionally, candidates should possess a National Trade Certificate (ITI) or Provisional Certificate in the relevant trade from NCVT/SCVT. For Medical Laboratory Technician roles, candidates must have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, achieving at least 50% marks in both Class 10 and Class 12.

The minimum age for applicants is set at 15 years, while the maximum age is 24 years, calculated as of the application deadline. Candidates from reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per regulations.

Selection of eligible candidates will be based on merit, shortlisting, document verification, and medical fitness. Selected candidates will receive a stipend of ₹9,600 in the first year, ₹10,560 in the second year, and ₹11,040 in the third year.

During the application process, candidates must pay the prescribed application fee online, which is set at ₹100 for General/OBC/EWS candidates. SC/ST/PWD/EBC and female candidates are exempt from the registration fee.
