No respite: 39C likely in Delhi

New Delhi, April 4 : Heatwave in Delhi-NCR continued on Monday, as the maximum temperature was expected to settle around 39 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. The minimum temperature was recorded at 19 degrees Celsius. Weather stations across the city recorded the highs at: Palam (40.2 degrees), the Ridge (41.4), Najafgarh (41.7), and Gurugram (42.3). The IMD predicted strong surface winds of speed 20-30 kmph during the day. The maximum temperature could go up to 40 degrees by Wednesday, and increase further to 41 degrees by Friday, it said. “Heatwave spell likely to continue over south Haryana-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh during next five days and over Gujarat, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh during next three days,” IMD tweeted on Sunday.
