
Lucknow, April 12: In a remarkable achievement during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Nicholas Pooran has set a new record as the leading run-scorer for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Pooran has amassed a total of 1,422 runs for the franchise, surpassing the previous record held by KL Rahul, who scored 1,410 runs.
Ayush Badoni has also made his mark, ranking third among LSG’s top scorers with 1,038 runs. Marcus Stoinis follows in fourth place with 952 runs, while Quinton de Kock rounds out the top five with 901 runs.
In a match held at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, LSG batted first after losing the toss, scoring 164 runs while losing 8 wickets. Aiden Markram led the innings with 30 runs off 21 balls, hitting 6 boundaries. Pooran contributed 19 runs from 21 balls, while captain Rishabh Pant, Abdul Samad, and Mukul Chaudhary each added 18 runs to the total.
From the opposing team, Prasidh Krishna was the standout bowler, claiming 4 wickets, while Ashok Sharma took 2 wickets. Mohammad Siraj and Kagiso Rabada each secured 1 wicket.
In response, the Gujarat Titans chased down the target in just 18.4 overs, winning the match with 7 wickets remaining. Captain Shubman Gill scored 56 runs off 40 balls, including 7 boundaries, while Jos Buttler made a significant contribution with 60 runs off 37 balls. The duo formed a crucial partnership, adding 84 runs for the second wicket in 58 balls. Washington Sundar (not out 21) and Rahul Tewatia (not out 10) sealed the victory with a 30-run unbeaten partnership.
