NIA conducts searches at multiple locations in Gujarat, Maharashtra in espionage case

New Delhi, March 24 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted searches at four locations in Gujarat and Maharashtra in the Espionage Case of Andhra Pradesh. Searches were conducted in Gujarat’s Godhra and Maharashtra’s Buldana at the premises of suspects. During searches, digital devices, suspicious SIM cards and incriminating documents were seized, an NIA statement said here. The case was initially registered on January 10, 2020 at Counter Intelligence Cell, AP Police Station, Vijayawada and re-registered by NIA on December 23 last year, NIA said. The case was related to the involvement of Pakistani Agents in espionage activities in India. Investigation revealed that they had conspired with other accused based in Visakhapatnam, Mumbai and Gujarat for gathering sensitive information for conducting terror acts in India. Indian SIM cards were fraudulently procured and OTPs were received through their associates for activation of social media by Pakistan-based handlers. CM RJ
