Kolkata, May 11: The West Bengal BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP, Samik Bhattacharya, stated on Monday that the new government, led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, will genuinely represent the “West Bengal Government” rather than being labeled as the “BJP Government.”
In a conversation with reporters, Bhattacharya emphasized that the state government will operate independently, with coordination with the party limited to the implementation of promises made in the pre-election manifesto.
He asserted that the state government will function in its own way. The connection between the state government and the party will ensure that the commitments made in the manifesto are effectively fulfilled. “The new government will be the ‘West Bengal Government’ and not the ‘BJP Government.’ This is our promise,” he stated.
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari attended an organizational meeting at the BJP’s state headquarters in Kolkata’s Salt Lake area on Monday morning. Following the meeting, he proceeded to Nabanna, the current state secretariat, located in Kolkata’s Mandirtala.
After the first cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Adhikari will preside over three separate organizational meetings with top bureaucrats and police officials of the state.
The Chief Minister received a ‘Guard of Honor’ at the state secretariat’s gate. However, the new cabinet will operate from Nabanna for a while before relocating to the original state secretariat at Writers’ Buildings in central Kolkata.
Adhikari also pledged to lead the new administration based on collective leadership, ensuring that he will never impose his decisions on other cabinet members, unlike former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. “I will not run the new government alone; we will collectively manage the new state government,” he affirmed.
