New Delhi, May 17: The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has remanded accused Manisha Gurunath Mandhare to 14 days of CBI custody in connection with the NEET paper leak case. Manisha, a resident of Pune and an expert teacher with the NTA, is suspected of being involved in a conspiracy to leak the biology question paper. Chemistry professor P.V. Kulkarni is considered the primary accused in the case.
During the court hearing, the CBI stated that Manisha specializes in translating botany and zoology question papers. She was allegedly part of a conspiracy with P.V. Kulkarni and Manisha Waghmare, and had provided the question paper to another accused, Shubham.
The CBI requested custody, explaining that investigations are ongoing across the country. They need to take her to various locations for the investigation, as she had possession of the question paper.
Meanwhile, Manisha’s lawyer opposed the arrest, claiming it was illegal. He stated, “Manisha was arrested after sunset and brought to Delhi at 1 AM.” The court instructed the defense attorney to file a petition regarding this matter and granted him permission to meet Manisha for 15 minutes daily.
Consequently, the Rouse Avenue Court decided to send Manisha Gurunath Mandhare to 14 days of CBI custody.
Manisha was arrested on May 14 in connection with the NEET paper leak case. In the past 24 hours, the CBI conducted searches at six locations nationwide and seized several important documents, laptops, bank statements, and mobile phones. An official reported that a detailed analysis of the seized items is underway.
It is noteworthy that the CBI registered the case based on a written complaint received from the education department on May 12. This complaint was related to the alleged paper leak of the NEET-UG 2026 examination.
