New Delhi, May 12: The cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 exam due to a paper leak has intensified political rhetoric. Opposition parties have rallied against the central government and the National Testing Agency (NTA), accusing them of jeopardizing the futures of millions of students and demanding strict action against those responsible.
Congress leader and former Chief Minister Harish Rawat stated in an interview, “Until there are significant changes in the examination system and a solid method to prevent paper leaks is established, we must proceed with extreme caution. This matter is now with the CBI. We will see what actions they take. The leak of a paper for such a large examination is a matter of great concern. Students who work tirelessly are deeply disheartened.”
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia leveled serious allegations against the government, saying, “The way NEET papers are leaked every year clearly shows that the government does not care about these children. Millions of students prepared for this exam. Where will these children and their families go? Preparing for an exam is no joke.”
He further added, “Last time, the individuals responsible for the leak were jailed for a short period and then released. This indicates collusion with the government. I was imprisoned for 18 months, while those who play with the futures of children are released immediately. The NTA, created by the government, has completely failed. They are toying with the futures of the country’s children.”
He warned that this is a Generation Z issue. “What happened in Nepal with Generation Z is well known. When Generation Z awakens, it drives those in power out. The government should not play with the future of Generation Z.”
NCP (SP) leader Fahad Ahmed, speaking from Mumbai, remarked, “You need to consider how you are shattering the hopes of children. Young kids in villages dream of becoming doctors. Their parents share the same aspirations. You have destroyed educational institutions and completely undermined their credibility.”
