New Delhi, April 14 : Chairperson of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) Iqbal Singh Lalpura met on Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi at his residence here on Thursday. Iqbal met Minister of Minority Affairs to convey his gratitude, a day after he was re-appointed as a Chairman of the commission on Wednesday. “Honour to meet the Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to convey my sincere thanks. Took his valuable time guidance and look forward to serve the minorities at my best under his leadership,” Iqbal said in a statement. Lalpura, a former IPS officer from Punjab cadre, was first appointed as chairman in September last year, but he resigned from in December and fought election on BJP ticket from Ropar assembly constituency unsuccessfully in the recently-held Punjab Assembly polls. “During his previous term as Chairperson, NCM, he worked tirelessly for the welfare of all the Minorities with a focused approach to ensure that the grievances of the Minorities are addressed and they avail the benefits of the Welfare schemes run by the Government,” according to a statement.
