New Delhi, April 19 : Chairman of National Commission for Minorities, Iqbal Singh Lalpura along with other members on Tuesday visited Jahangirpuri to take stock of the situation where a communal clash took place. “The commission has also advised the administration to quickly nab all the culprits and take necessary steps so that this kind of incident does not happen in future” a NCM said in a statement. “No innocent person should be booked in this process” it said. Communal clashes broke out in Northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri following a Shobha Yatra organised to mark Hanuman Jayanti on Saturday. The Commission also had a joint meeting with representatives of both the comm ties and asked the representatives of both the comm ties to conduct Aman Committee meetings regularly. “The team took stock of the situation from DCP, North West Delhi. It was informed that the third procession on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti which didn’t have the permission was being organised by VHP/Bajrang Dal” NCM said. “There was a minor scuffle between two groups which later turned violent. Police immediately rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.” It said. “The Commission appreciated the role of the district administration in containing the rising tension between two comm ties” the statement said. Meanwhile, the Delhi police have intensified security arrangements around the C-block of Jahangirpuri in North West Delhi where clashes erupted Saturday evening between two comm ties. JA SHK2148
