Kohima, March 31 : The Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO) under Kohima district of Nagaland has imposed indefinite bandh against Manipur Government on National Highway 2, which entered in the tenth day today and SAPO hoped that the Manipur Government will withdraw its police force from its land in Kezoltsa area, which is allegedly in Disputed Area Belt (DAB) on the inter-state border. The Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) in release stated that the ‘unnecessary interference’ of some associations in the ongoing indefinite bandh imposed by the Southern Angami Public Organisation in its jurisdiction along National Highway 2 would only escalate the issue. It said the SAYO is of the view that the current situation will only further escalate with the involvement and statement of some ons and Associations who are randomly threatening to counter the stance of the bandh without understanding the issue or without any objectives to settle the existing issue. It said that the bandh was called against the Manipur Government for the deployment of armed personnel and construction of concrete structures in the Kezoltsa area which “violates the arbitration undertaking signed by the rightful owners of the land, the Tenyimi Peoples’ Organisation’s (TPO), Board of Arbitrators, Mao Council, Maram and SAPO and wherein, it was firmly resolved that no activity shall be allowed in the disputed area pending resolution.” SAYO said that the disputed Kezoltsa area was never acquired by the Governments of Nagaland or Manipur and the rights of the non-cadastral land rest with the people and the comm ty according to the customary tradition. As the matter is pending in the court of TPO, the SAYO contended that “the question of dispute or negotiation over political boundary between the two state governments or intervention from the Government does not arise.” “Instead of making unfounded claims over Kezoltsa area as State territorial jurisdiction and political boundary, the Manipur Government should take into confidence the concern of its people by paying heed to the clarion call of TPO to withdraw its armed personnel and in dismantling the concrete structures, which were illegally constructed,” it maintained. Meanwhile, the Board of Arbitrators (BOA) of the Tenyimi Peoples’ Organisation has asked the Manipur Government to give its verdict on the land dispute at Kezoltsa, Kozuru, Kazing or Dzukou area. According to a release, this was resolved at the presidential council meeting of TPO along with its BOA at Kohima on Tuesday, amid the indefinite bandh imposed by the Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO) in its jurisdiction along National Highway 2 in connection with the land dispute. The meeting resolved to firmly stand by the Arbitration Undertaking signed in 2017 and honour every clause of the agreement. It also decided to stand by the representations submitted to the Manipur Government by the TPO and the three contending parties,” it said. AS KK
